a considerable town of Afghanistan, built at a short distance from the right bank of the Indus, to replace the former town of that name, which, being only 100 yards from the river, was swept away by a flood so that not a vestige of it was left. N. Lat. 31° 50'; E. Long. 70° 58'. It has a considerable transit trade, and extensive manufactures of white cotton cloth. Pop. about 8000.
