a fortified town of Germany, in Rhenish Bavaria, is situated on the Queich, distant 18 miles N.W. from Carlsruhe. Its chief manufactures are, linens, woollens, tobacco, oil, and fire-arms. The houses are well built and commodious, and arranged in regular streets; while the buildings specially noticeable are, an arsenal, some military establishments, a Roman Catholic church, two Protestant churches, and Latin, agricultural, and industrial schools.
