a market-town and parish of Ireland, county of Leitrim, situated at the foot of a hill, 9½ miles E. by S. of Carrick-on-Shannon, and 92½ miles N.W. by W. of Dublin. The town has a parish church, Roman Catholic and Methodist chapels, a dispensary, hospital, and workhouse. Some trade is carried on in corn, butter, and pigs, and numerous fairs are held. Pop. (1851) 1223.
