a village and parish of Scotland, in the county of Renfrew, is situated on the Levern, 4 miles S. of Paisley, and 9 W.S.W. of Glasgow. It has an Established, a Free, and a United Presbyterian church, several schools, and a mechanics' institute. There are here also cotton-mills and bleachfields; and four fairs are held annually. Pop. (1851) of village, 2075; of parish, 12,233.
