a town of Russia, in the government of Kursk, stands at the confluence of the Obojanka and Psiol, 36 miles S. of Kursk, and about 370 W.S.W. of Moscow. It is well built; has several churches, schools, and hospitals; and drives a flourishing trade in cattle, wax, &c. Pop. (1849) 4968.
