a town of European Turkey, in Albania, near the frontier of Montenegro, 38 miles N. of Scutari. It stands at the confluence of the rivers Moratsha and Chicuna, the latter of which is here crossed by a long wooden bridge. A short distance to the north lie the ruins of the ancient Dioclea, now called Dickla. They consist of temples, palaces, and isolated pillars; but they are gradually diminishing, as the people of Podgoritza make free use of the remains for building materials. Pop. 6000.
