or RAWICZ, a town of Prussia, province and 55 miles S. of Posen. It is well built, and encircled with walls and ditches, and contains a handsome town-hall, Protestant and Roman Catholic churches, a gymnasium and other schools, a jail, &c. The manufactures consist of woollen and cotton cloth, leather, hats, and tobacco; and there are also spinning-mills. Some trade is carried on in corn and wool. Charles XII. of Sweden had his winter quarters here in 1704. Pop. 9532.
