a town of Spain, Andalusia, in the province and 28 miles N. of Almenia, on the right bank of the Almanzor. The principal buildings are a church, several hermitages, a court-house, and prison; and the manufactures of the town comprise linen, blankets, and earthenware. There are also oil and flour mills. The surrounding region is rich in iron, lead, and copper; and there were formerly many smelting places for these metals, but only two are now used. Nitre and white marble are also obtained in the vicinity. Pop. 5619.
