or SHUSHI, a town of Asiatic Russia, capital of a circle in the government of Shamakia, Transcaucasia, 70 miles S.E. of Ganjeh. It is fortified, and occupies a strong position on a mountain accessible only from one side. Silk and woollen cloth are manufactured here.

Shusha was founded by Nadir Shah, and was at one time the capital of the khanat of Karabagh. Pop. 13,469.
