a town of Central America, capital of a department in the state and 100 miles N.W. of Guatemala. It is a widespread town, consisting chiefly of flat-roofed houses; and has manufactures of earthenware, woollen cloth, and wooden articles. In the neighbourhood there are medicinal springs. Pop. 12,000.
