a town of France, department of Saône-et-Loire, on the right bank of the Saône, 17 miles N. of Mâcon. It has an ancient church, a town-hall, two hospitals, and a pillar supposed to have belonged to a Roman temple. Hats, silk, and beet-root sugar, are made here; and there is some trade in corn, wine, and building-stones. Pop. 5324.
