It covers a large space of ground, and contains seven mosques, ten Greek churches, two synagogues, and large bazaars. Blankets, coarse woollen and cotton cloth, are made; and there are dye-works for Turkish yarn. A considerable transit trade is carried on. Pop. 12,000.
