a town in the island of Sicily, province of Noto, and 12 miles W.N.W. of Modica. It stands on an eminence, and is a poor straggling town with few good buildings. The inhabitants, who amount to about 10,000, are chiefly employed in agriculture, and in the rearing of cattle and bees.
