a town of France, in the department of Haut-Rhin, on the Thur, 22 miles S.S.W. of Colmar. It lies at the foot of a hill on which stand the ruins of an ancient castle, and it has a fine Gothic church with a richly ornamented and lofty spire. Cotton handkerchiefs, hosiery, Thapsacus starch, and salt, are made here. Pop. 5864.
