a town of Switzerland, in the canton of Vaud, on the Lake of Geneva, 11 miles E.S.E. of Lausanne. It is triangular in shape, and has broad, regular streets, with many handsome houses. One of the two churches contains the tombs of Ludlow and Broughton the regicides, who died here. Woollen cloth, leather, and jewellery are made here, and some trade is carried on in wine. The beauty of the town and vicinity makes Vevay a favourite place of residence for foreigners. Pop. (1850) 5201.
